such a little thing...
That such a little thing can mean so much, has always been a mystery to me. Few know about it, fewer really care, but for a time something fleeting and insignificant can become your whole world. Sure, it's an obsession. Sure, it borders on psychosis, however temporary. But there it is, filling the back half of your mind with a looming energy. Now and again it lumbers forward into your conscious, to stab at your eyes, distract your attention, fuel your ego... And it never goes away quietly or without a heated and protracted battle. It saps all your energy with its pressence and robs you emotionally blind with its retreat. For all the excitement of its presence, it leaves you feeling run down and run over in its wake.
That's been this week for me all thanks a little button that says [ UPDATE ]. Some of you know that I've been participating in weekly photography challenges over at DPChallenge.com and even spent part of my birthday money on a membership. Each time you click [ UPDATE ], you see if there has been any change in your current submission, and I have been absolutely addicted to it this past week.
The voting for the Triptych challenge started at 11 PM CST last Sunday Night. [ UPDATE ] 1 vote and an 8. [ UPDATE ] 3 votes for 8.3333! [ UPDATE ] 20 votes for 6.9500. [ UPDATE ] 110 votes for 6.6124. [ UPDATE ] 6.6554 [ UPDATE ] 157 votes for 6.6051. [ UPDATE ] 180 votes and a 6.7056. [ UPDATE ] 200 votes 6.7264. [ UPDATE ] 250 votes and I'm at 6.7868. All this up and down with the score, along with the comments, the favorites, the wish list... [ UPDATE ] [ UPDATE ] [ UPDATE ] It took over.
Now it is over. The final results were quite exciting and represents my best showing on the site in thirteen challenge entries. Like I said, it's not much and nothing that you should really care about, but for one week, it was where my head was. If I neglected you as a result, sorry. Just let me know and I'll sell you the print at a discount...
