sorry...
Ok, so there are supposed to be a couple of nice photos here for you to vote on today. Sorry, but since I've been back I've been feeling a little tired and under the weather, as it were. Mostly because of the weather and the adjustment to the change from extreme cold in Uruguay to extreme heat in Memphis. Yikes.
I'm going to try and have more photos ready for you tomorrow, so I just might make another super Wednesday vote where you can win a chance at a free print. How does that sound? Do you still love me? I'll be good from now on. I promise....

quick update...
Today we're supposed to tour the city and go to the market. The sun's out right now, but the weather kinda sucks this morning... I woke up to the sound of rain outside my window. I also woke up to a horribly soar throat... Jennifer wrapped up a little gift for me for every day of the trip. Good thing my gift for yesterday was tea. I was up before anyone else and down having breakfast and drinking hot tea with the ipod blasting... What a week....
we leave tomorrow to fly home. Jennifer wrote me that Coleman found a copy of my passport she made and said
"Daddy?" Awww... Ain't that the cutest?
Daddy'll be home soon...

photo update...
I know I should write about yesterday's winning photo, but there just hasn't been time. I'd love to give you a full update on our trip, but if I spend all day typing up all the things I want to tell you, I'd miss out on tomorrow's scheduled activities. Oh well. Best I can do is give you a quick photo-update, give you a sense of the country of Uruguay (or at least the small part of the city of Montevideo where we are.)
Enjoy.

Don't Cry for Me Argentina... (He'll only be there a few minutes)
Well, Shane's flight to Miami should have taken off just a few minutes ago. For those of you that don't know, he will be in Uruguay for the next 9 days with other members from our church. Please pray for their safety and that they have positive response to the Gospel while they are abroad. He will have internet access at the hotel, so if you feel like dropping him an encouraging note that would be great I am sure. He will go from Memphis to Miami, Miami to Buenos Aries and then a commuter flight to Montevideo, Uruguay. He will arrive there tomorrow around noon.
I am heading to Huntsville for a few days with the baby. I will be back mid-week when my friend Glenna comes to see us from Kansas. Please pray for me as well since I have never been apart from Shane for this long, and am not looking forward to 10 days as a single mom. I am also a little worried about all the flights Shane will be on (the flight from Miami to Buenos Aries alone is 12 hours.)
So that is the scoop. I am sure if he has the time he will be posting photos and such while he is away.
Jennifer

a post with words...
Ok, so I had no illusions that you would vote for the poor red snapper over the snap of the red throated ham of a lizard. I knew you wouldn't be able to resist his charms, his
"whatupdawg" look, the
"car insurance? yeah i got your gecko right here" cock of the head. That's pretty much the exchange he and I had. I played wild eyed photographer, extra-long, inadequacy-compensatoryzoom lens in hand, snapping away as fast as the half-used AA batteries could recycle the flash. He played the over-confidentand vapidly clueless male supermodel with that inexplicable feminine quality suggesting either a deep emotional sensitivity or a fondness for those of similar gender.
One would think a wild animal, one prone to shyness and timidity, would have run from the lumbering brute with the gadget fetish and the over developed sense of artistic purpose. But no. He stood his ground. Maybe his bravery was inspired by a need to protect his home territory from invaders big and small. Or maybe it was just familiarity;after all, his home was at the corner of the walkway by the front door and well traveled. Or maybe he simply suffered from ego; a tedious vanity that overrode his better judgment and rendered his innate instincts of self-preservation ineffectual. I think he simply sensed I was running on 4 hours of sleep, and thus posed absolutely no threat to him, whatsoever...

{ Portrait in Flames : 6 votes} [ voting has ended... ]Unfortunately we couldn't attend a city sponsored fireworks display and all we could legally purchase were the type that sit on the ground and throw sparks. Ah well. It was fun anyway... Hope you had a wonderful 4th of July...
